1Overall Description
Very interesting kind of house/samba hybrid piece with a very amusing "ring tom" used in the beat and some crazy warped panning synth effects (starting at about 1:30) that feel a bit, well, schitzophrenic (but meant in a good, trance-y way not a confused/anarchistic way). The cymbals have a similar feel...note I didn't rate the arrangement for this piece...in fact the arrangement in many ways defines the piece. Somewhere between a 3 and 4, I gave this one the benefit of a doubt as it has elements that, if developed more, could lead to an inspiring new sub-genre of house music (that seems to have a good bit of goa and FSOL influence).

2Creativity Description
Mixed bag, much as many other De-Vis tracks are (think Hyper-Active)...the beat is very tonal and in many ways ingenious, especially since many of the drums sound like variations of tom drums and thus seem to morph between each other creating feelings of both enclosing and opening space. Meanwhile the melody seems no where to be found and, even in the deepest house music (or, say, Rabbit in The Moon's tracks or FSOLs), that won't work for over about 4:00 or so to keep interest. On the other hand, adding melodies to such a solid beat foundation should not prove hard.

3Artistic License Description
The sad think is, while producers like myself will likely be inspired by and click with the strong arrangement elements of this track there's neither melody nor enough interesting texture (again think Future Sound Of London's tunes) to really make it stick in your head. If De-Vis is to go the texture route (IE updating the textures instead of adding melodies), he'll likely need at least 3 evolving lead textures and not just the lone panning-synth that starts at 1:30.

4Sound Quality Description
Very, very clear with lots of pushing of (madtracker's?) effects library.

5Does it work as a piece of music Description
As a beat, yes, far as melody and texture...not yet. But this is, at the very least, a solid platform for adding new melodies and textures...and an interesting piece of "experimental house" to say the least.
