1Overall Description
High-quality piano-based electronica with elements of trance and demostyle, though not quite as good as the guitar-based remix that Zaphoid released later. All the core ingredients are here: good atmosphere, clean production values, careful sample selection, rollicking beats, intriguing base melody, tons of little background touches to round out the sound, even a nice and reasonable playing time of only 4:26 in a genre cluttered with pointlessly self-indulgent 9-minute songs. It's all very sharply done, but a little sparse from a melodic standpoint. The piano introduces a nice little melody early on, then quickly disappears and really isn't replaced by much. It makes a brief re-entrance near the end to more fully flesh out that melody, but then quickly disappears again. It's that lack of melodic depth that holds the song back for me and makes it pale somewhat in comparison to the aforementioned Guitar Version of "Core." My recommendation would be to check out both versions and keep your favorite. It's worth the time. :)
