| This is certainly a different style from what I've heard from you so far. (I have not yet listened to all you have up here). I think I take sort of a middle path on this. I personally find the variation fine because it does not all happen with the piano. In popular music the tendency is to develop with sounds, not melodies and volume like a classical piece would. I'm not sure what I think of the industrial addition yet, and I've listen to this well over ten times. I get nervous when I get into choices that the composer is making. I think the main thing is – does it communicate? It does, I get a very cool mood from this. And that’s the one thing about the industrial noise injection – it takes away from the mood I feel. To be honest, the degree of interest is not yet as high as the vocal line I could hear on top of this foundation. But there you have a choice to make if you wish to take a composition like this to a higher degree of interest for –my- point of view. Barry’s idea, if I can summarize, is to make the piano more like a live performance. And I agree it would work. Vocals would rock in this in my humble opinion. With vocals I think this would be a very well developed backing track. The last choice would be to add even variation into the rhythm section and pad sounds. – To me there are three basic ways to successful communication – 1. Through overall concept – 2. Through a hook of any type (melodic, rhythmic, sound color. 3. Through depth – such as in a good movie the more you listen the more detail you hear. Combine all three and I guess it would be wow! But – But – this is only what –I- go by and is valid only for me – unless it makes some sense to you. Ultimately all I can say is this is a good piece of music and I enjoy it. Thank you for sharing a piece of your life. | ||
