1Overall Description
This track is a fantastic example of everything coming together perfectly. Melody, harmony, vocals, form: all are spot on.

The track weighs in at a little over six minutes, which is about par for the genre. The introduction, at around a minute's length, is perhaps one of the best parts of the track. It is much more than a simple layering of sounds - rather, it introduces various ideas, techniques, and the main theme, all of which are used throughout, in novel ways. The subtle dissonances which fade away, rather than resolve, set the tone for the rest of the track, and draw the listener in.

The vocals, which come in straight after the introduction, are perhaps a little *too* bassy to be understood on the first play. That being said, the interplay between vocals and melody is very well-executed: the melody pauses during the vocals to shift the listener's attention, and then comes back in. This swapping keeps the track interesting throughout.

I should note that the melodic interplay is also between the second lead, the pluck, and the first lead. Indeed, from about half-way through the track, the artist utilises all three - vocals, lead, and pluck in a very structured fashion; and in dance music, structure is extremely important.

The track relies very heavily on delay and reverb effects, and the delay is generally ping-ponged. Coupled with subtle panoramic placements, this actually works really well, and the sound does not become muddy, as it so often can. Indeed, the heavy use of delay is very much a defining characteristic of the track, and lends it a very dreamy feel (which is great, as it's a dream-dance track. :D)

The choice of instruments in this track is spot on. Each instrument is unique enough to be easily distinguishable in the mix, but they meld together without jarring. The only instrument that's a bit of a letdown is the gated pad, which has a somewhat different character to the other instruments. But given its lack of prominence, it does work to fill out the track and provide it with a harmonic foundation.

All in all, "Hypocrisy" is a great track - I found it very hard to find anything to criticise. Whilst it may not be the best dance track ever written, it's definitely worthy of five stars in my book.
