1Overall Description
Was this really done in 1995? If so, it was way ahead of its time.
Gearbox sounds like a solid 2008 release, and a good one at that.

At 136bpm, this track pulls you right in with an engaging, lets-get-down-to-business intro followed by a non compromising lead build.

The fast cars inspiration, as stated by the artist, is highly noticeable not only in the overall groove, but also in the occasional pitch bend effects.

The track's arrangement passes as a Radio Edit, but does not pass as a full blown Club Edit. An additional 2-3 minutes block could make it qualify as a main course on a typical dance floor. At approximately 3 minutes long, it is a little hard to commit to and the fade out outro is coming too soon.
Nonetheless, as a short version, the track feels complete and the short intro makes looping it over and over again -- which you will undoubtedly do -- that much easier.

Even without considering the fact that this is a 13 year old song (really really?), the mastering quality is exceptional. The sounds feel like they came out of the same bank of the same machine. The only noticable exception, is the kick drum. While working well when mixed with other layers, as a standalone part (in the intro), it feels a little pale, and misses some click. However, this is compensated by the sharp plucked synths and the dirty cymbals.

If you have a party playlist, this should definitely be on it.
