1Overall Description
'Inner Evolution' is like a time capsule from the 90s, delivered in a nice 2008 package.
The addictive melodies are taken straight from the Post-Robert-Miles era, when dream dance tracks started to lose the pianos in favor of portamento horn-like synths.

With a classy arrangement, 'Inner Evolution' pulls you in along a solid buildup pattern using excellent drops to the bridges, spiced up with smooth and pleasant transition parts.

When listening to the song for the third and fourth time, you will probably notice sounds that were not there before. This, to me, shows a good layering skills and keeps it interesting.

There are a couple of minor points that would have made this a 5-star track in my book:

1. The final mix may be just a bit too compressed. It could have been interesting to listen to it with a bit more of a dynamic range, to let the snares and kicks shine. This compression also makes a noticeable clipping around the 1:42 and 1:46 marks.

2. There may be a bit too much punch in the center and too little separation on the sides. Although this track has a surprisingly wide stereo field when viewed with an analyzer, it still sounds too centered at times.

3. Some instruments may benefit from a slight equalization or a cut back on the reverb. In particular, some minor low cuts on high frequency instruments, to let them shine through and not collide with the lower frequency instruments.

All in all, an excellent track - it promises and delivers:
A 138 BPM Dream Dance with a touch of the classic taste that defined this genre.
Well done Crono.
