1Overall Description
3.5 out of 5
Although the official score is 3, I personally give it a 3.5 because you put a nice job of choosing 8bit voices to make the jazzy chord sounds. Almost like a Rhodes piano - which I am a sucker for sometimes. : )
I do like it for several reasons. I do appreciate how it wanders, because I don't feel like I have to follow it. (however, as a counterpoint, randomness doesn't always necessarily equal jazz. I am not a jazz conniseur but I have heard good and amature. I would say this feels a bit more experimental to me.) And I do appreciate the mixing of a techno piece into the song. I'd like to know if you were experimenting with ideas. good/decent sounds all around.
As a suggestion/idea, using some pitch slides here or there could give it an analog-instrument sort of feel. I'm not sure what software you use for this sort of thing, so that suggestion might be off limits. But if not, adding a slide here or there might be fun.
I couldn't quite give it a 4 for a few reasons. It ended abrubtly as if it were cut off. (I'm going off of the downloaded track) This seemed a little accidental to me (even if it wasn't an accident). Also, you were using dimished chord structures throughout the song (atleast i think they were). At any rate, the last piano flick at the end was major. For experimental sake, that might be fine, but I think it might of been stronger to end on a longer held "lower note" rather than a short "happier note". anyways, thats pretty much my 2 cents for what its worth. I think I should get to know more about what you were intending with this song. 3.5
