1Overall Description
The original track by Tricky was a charming, if flawed, tune. This remix takes all that was good about that track and sucks it out, leaving nothing but dried out, grotesque remains in its place. Avoid at all costs. And no, it's not a funny track. At all. Don't get fooled by the genres listed, the track doesn't fit even remotely into any of them.

2Creativity Description
A little knob-twisting here, a simple effect there, some noise over there... It doesn't take much to come up with a piece like this, but it's still not as simple as it might seem. Credit where credit's due, but there's still a long way to go before this becomes truly creative.

3Artistic License Description
Let's put it like this: JBL takes Tricky's "Peaceful Life", a 2-star track, and makes it worse. This isn't music, it's not artistic, and it's not funny. JBL has added quite a bit of reverb to the original track, and added a hardcore, obnoxious rhythm on top. The amp noise and assorted other effects are just icing on a very bitter cake.

4Arrangement Description
Smooth transitions? Panning? Balanced samples? I can hear no such things in this remix.

5Sound Quality Description
Looking past the arrangement of the track for a moment, the quality of the few sounds utilized is strictly average. I'm not considering Tricky's original samples here, which would have pulled down this rating a star. To be fair however, this genre doesn't really require high-quality samples.

6Does it work as a piece of music Description
No, this doesn't work as music. The only parts here that could be called musical are the parts that were made by Tricky. The rest is pure, uninspired chaos.

JBL didn't tell me that in such words, but there was a lot in the song itself and its profile page that told me that. But since I know that I ain't such a great musician, and therefore never took my own music THAT seriously, it's pretty hard to use my stuff to insult me, or to make fun of me. (It's not that I doubt my sense of music. If I did I wouldn't be reviewing here).

I actually didn't know that. I reviewed the track from a neutral viewpoint (or so I'd like to believe, at least).

Trust me, it was JBL's objective to make this track as crappy as possible, even though he asked my permission to remix my track, it was clearly an attempt to insult me, and one that failed. I don't know if TiLT tried to protect me, but you can't blame him for writing a harsh review as a result to that. As for me, I had a nice laugh because of all of it.

In all fairness , If you edit out the noise its at least two stars. I don't hate it nor do I care for it. Its not a an issue about that. I think the real issue here was the mastering of lof-fi (8-bit?) samples could of been done a lot better. Any song and I do mean ANY, can be reworked to a point where its at least tolerable. I won't score this track since its not my place to condemn anyone for trying.

If you don't appreciate the style, don't review on it. PLEASE!

One thing remains. I granted permission to do this, and I expected that it would end up this way. So at least I wasn't insulted by this. For the rest, I must say that I agree with this review.
