I must be weird... I seem to really enjoy this song. I actually like the "awful" chords. Reminds me a lot of the music in Star Control 2 (all Mods, ProTracker stuff). I still break out that game every once in a while just to conquer it all over again. Good times. This song fits well in the good times category for me.
