Artist's description:
My attempt at a trance song that transformed into something else that retains what I feel are some trance elements. You be the judge :)

This song makes heavy use of CyanPhase's ViDist machine, a beautiful little distortion effect buried in Buzz's ridiculously large catalog...seriously, there's like 50 distortion machines alone, and I've not had a chance to try out even 10 to their full extent :(

I've adjusted the high-pass filter on the bass and tweaked EQ the drums to give the whole song some of that 'oomph' that was missing from my first upload. I've posted it as source (Entranced2.mp3) for the time being, since the 're-submit' option either doesn't work or (worse) works and kills the online playback. I've also updated the .BMX. Please continue to share your thoughts :D

Thanks to roncli, the reupload bug appears to have been fixed :D Here's the current version, circa some time last year when I was still working on it.

Contributors:
Mahbz for asking me about trying trance in the first place.
Ceekayed and gluon for pointing out that I'd EQ'ed the balls off the bassline and drums :(

Inspiration:
TiLT's "An Agile Mind", Edzes' "Remember This Day", Nine Inch Nails, Gravity Kills, etc.

Reminds me of early 90's EBM scene or some kind of proto-goa instead of conventional trance music; this is just too edgy and dark for a pure trance. This track had some fresh ideas and the artist do... Read full review

New-wave/trance hybrid style track with some very aggressive leads and very well done dreamy guitar solos...sounds a bit Depeche Mode meets Joe Satriani in mood. The mood for most of of the song... Read full review

I really liked the whole 'feel' of this track, not by any means breaking new ground within the Trance-genre, but certainly more in the footsteps of futurepop-bands like Apoptygma Berzerk than conven... Read full review

Now that I looked back at it...It actually seems much, much more cooler, definitely a Ferry Corsten style track I would say, there are solid styles of techno and trance mixed in with abit of INDUSTRIALIZATION! Haha! Good Job Din.

Thank Zaphod T-weak for making Void Bass, the synth used for that nice, dirty bass line >:) Glad you like it.

I think this song sounds very sweet. I love that distorted bass sample you used. That gives this song that certain "edge."

Sounds like something Michael Jackson might have tried. Thanks :)

I had this vision for a music video: A rave takes place in an abandoned factory, but then the machinery suddenly starts to dance (or move along with the rhythm, at least) as well. It looks stupid in writing, I see now, but it looks awesome in my head. The track is a great blend of teh trance and industrial styles, anyway.

Thanks man :) I've gotten a good kick in the right direction by working on this song AND all the great feedback I keep getting :D

I like this kind of music but really it is like a warm-up to writing something new. I think you could break out of the mold as well as sharpen the sounds. Break the formates, break the beats, If you can make this, go for the 'ripped grooove' of sound from here(hear). best wishes always

Thanks man :) Glad you like it. I've got a newer version ready. No musical tweaks, but fixed the low-cut on the bass and boosted low end EQ on the drumset (just a smidge to sit lightly on top of the bass ;)

It's such a shame you only received 3 stars..... hmmm lets change that! Love the dark quality of this. I added this one to my trance playlist and Downloaded as well.

You know I listened to it again (I mean really listened to it), ran it through a generic bass-boost, and realized 'You know what? He's absolutely right.' Thanks for pointing that out. I'm currently boosting the bass with a little more precision. I've given the bass line back its oomph; had the high-pass a little too high...heh :/ The kick drum is stuck the way it is unless I run it through EQ separately AND bypass the compressor (it's a high ratio to give the drums that pop/punch). Thanks again :D

Needs a crapload of more low-end. It's like the frequencies were rolled off from 80hz and below, while the kick in stuff like this *should* punch around 60hz. Other than that, I like it alot! Not really trance, but as the reviewers said, futurepop/ebm. Reminds me of newer Suicide Commando productions ("Axis of Evil" and "Bind, Torture, Kill") somehow. Must be those trancey lead synths.

Cool, so I did keep the trance feel to it :D Thanks for the listens and feedback. I'll probably retool this one and resubmit it once they've fixed the reupload bug ;)

Pretty cool approach to the genre in question, like the mixup of the style with something else :) This is what could have saved trance, if said artists could let go of their supersaws long enough to see the possibilities :)

Somewhere in-between the massive Dutch saw-trance sound (think Ferry Corsten) and Depeche (sp.?) Mode...very solid melodically, if a bit demo-style do to the sample choice/availability? (truly good/deep trance samples are hard to find)...love the outro guitar mood at 2:30, almost a bit Joe-Satriani-esque that continues at 3:12...not quite trance style but, rather, something a bit more amusing with trance influences.

Well, I have to say some really good work here, this song does consist of some Trance elements, but has the general 'Industrial' feeling, very good results here, you created a Breaky Trance as an end result which in my honest opinion is quite good :), the mixing skills are there but the synths aren't as top notch, but overall, man you did well.
