Great track! This is quite hypnotizing, and leaves you with a taste of "I want more"! - Voices seem to come out of nowhere, totally unexpected with a subtle filtering, inviting the listener to some... Read full review

I remember you sending me a test run of this song. It's Simplicity is genius I think. The Poem is spooky and reminds me of NIN without all the crazy mad distortion choruses.

Oh well, I liked the text a friend of mine wrote, he writes a lot of poems and we wanted to put them in a song. This song was created in one evening including the singing. Mainly what I was practicing here is strange timing in vocals and some stylistic singing to see what I can do with my voice. Another nice thing is that the minor choord schema shifts into a major in the end, not a casual schema for such a dark song to contain major's but it somehow achieves a mysterious mood. Yes its pretty repetetive, its meant as minimalistic, hypnotizing dark, hence the repetition. You can't compare Perla Libre to this song. Actually its more like Hard Wax than Depeche Mode, I disagree on that too :)

I know some people are going to hate me for this...but out of Sjef's songs this is perhaps the only one that didn't impress me very much in at least one way. The whole song is based on one melody and the rhythm just seems to drag on a simple and non-varying beat rather than kick, rotate, or "frighten"...the 303 riffs and drums are polished but very very standard in arrangement and timing (sounds almost like a synthesizer's preset arpeggio stuck...tough to describe). Sounds a bit like "Depeche Mode's" song "Reach Out Touch Faith" (don't remember the exact name/title for it)...but seems to simply conform to the mood rather than attempt anything new or personal in it. I did not rate this one but felt worth saying it could use a few surprises and personal touches to really stand out as anything more than a down-key Depeche Mode meets Marilyn Manson tribute...and it seems consistent that other people listening to this can't seem to say anything objective other than that the production quality is strong. Judging by what else I have heard from Sjef IE the bass-lines on Gearbox or the evolving chords and very individualistic and deep string arrangements on La Perla Libre, this song simply is not on the same level as those tracks despite being rated as a 5.

Reminds me of later Kevorkian Death Cycle. Pretty cool stuff.

The analog stream lines of the 303 is just amazing. Slow but solid, single structured but rhythmic. Very lovely piece of music, delightful and strong. Recommended.

Alone remembering
Will today be the end?

Or the beginning of rebirth?
