Year: 2003

Album:
The empire never ended (Track #6)

Artist's description:
Started this one long time ago. When 2002 was coming to an end my favorite CD was Sigur Rós - (). I got inspired by them and made this track. Guess I finished it around spring 2003 or something..

Never felt 100% happy with it. But I guess I never will...

I sat an hour or two with it just now, drank some oolongtea, and finally felt I could release it.

Sigur Rós

Another journey brought to you by Soem. And again, lots of ambiences, atmospheres and sceneries. This might not be his best track, technically speaking, but it does carry on lots of feelings and emoti... Read full review

I like it, cool electonic sounds, well placed digi? distortion, soundscape lives. Beatiful.

Ahahah, I clearly see what you mean, yes. But maybe, it needs sometime and when moment is right, you might get your hands back on it and make it into what you've envisioned at first ;)

The thing is; from where you are standing you see one thing, and from where I'm standing I see something else. I see what I could have done with this track, and see see what I did with this track... :)

Hehe, fortunately, imperfections still come to me naturally ;). And there is none in this track, melody wise. At the most, some levels, filters and such need a fine tuning. But I stand my ground: nothing really "shocked" me in this tune. Played on different audio systems (headphones included).

you can put those imperfections into computer music - it just takes lots and lots of effort. The latest from It Alien is quite awesome in that respect. and Space Walk sounds like a real recording also. It helps though to play a real instrument if that is what you are going for... In the end it is just easier to play it, mistakes and all, if it is in your ability.

I like imperfections. The one thing that bugs me with computers is in the end, they tend to make all things straights and in squares. "Best" tracks are often loaded with minor "flaws" because, I think, it add a more human feel in them. Probably, that touches us more. --- That part (2:15) with this heavy synth is quite alright to me.

I like it too... quite a bit actually.

Not saying I don't like this track. (I wouldn't release it then.) In fact I really like some (most) parts of it. But sometimes things can really get to you, and stay there forever.

Well... the whole song is a bit messed up by reverb, delays and EQing. And my biggest hang-up is the part around 2:17.

Glad you've decided to release it! ;) edit: "..but it's definitely 100/100 Soem Aeld!"

I'm curious to know what is still bugging you with this track? It might be inspired by Sirgu Ros, but it's definitely 100oem Aeld! It's a ballad, a journey.. travelling to different places within those 8mins. It's soft, peaceful and quite relaxing. And yet, there's some underlaying dynamic there.. I guess, it's the power of ocean: powerful and quiet. Most of your instruments are filtered or reverbed, slightly or more, it seems, and that adds alot to this peaceful feeling. Technically, there might be a few things here and there but afterall, who said a song had to be flawless? It's all about feels and images here..
