Artist's description:
This is my song for Space Walk's "Victory Theme" compo. It's an orchestral arrangement of "Bonesaw is Ready" and "One Winged Bonesaw." It's more of the story of a battle then anything, but there are definitely victory-oriented themes and then a crazy cliffhanger!

I don't think I have much to explain about the song, but I think it's obvious that it tells a story, sort of like a trailer (a long one). There are many movements, and I had to create this piece using two different cakewalk projects. There were 11 instances of EWQLSO (That's 16*11 orchestral instruments). That doesn't count my Symphonic Choirs, or Ministry of Rock, two new toys that I originally intended on using this track to play with.

Also, this piece is pretty much written entirely around the melody from "One Winged Bonesaw" (you can hear it played best at 2:57ish). It's a melody that is very sparse in the original and I wanted to expand on it as much as I could.

In my honest opinion, this is the best 'single' I've got now. I've put a lot of hard work into this, but I got a little anxious regarding releasing it so it is a little on the quiet side, but you can turn it up.

Tools used:
Cakewalk Sonar 6
Eastwest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Gold XP Pro
Eastwest/Quantum Leap Symphonic Choirs
Eastwest/Quantum Leap Ministry of Rock
Modplug Tracker (yes yes, you can probably tell where, too!)

Enjoy!! :D Oh, and hey, this song is NOT intended to loop or be in a game. How about that? (;

Please download this if you want a good listen, the stream butchered this!

Inspiration:
Taroeel writes:
"The song is like winter in the beginning but you soon see the flame of the fire pit in the great dinner hall. There is something being decided. A plan. Opposition rings out with the guitar piece. A challenge no less. The strings stand back to this burst of opposition. There is a changing of side by the observers as choir. Then a feeble retaliation of the plotting few. A break of like stares at each other. Thinking toward one another. The passion pours out from the hearts of the opposition joining observers as they are now the trumpets or out speaking voices. The movement changes now and there are definitely battles and a calm of strings oversees the death remnant of the battlefield. So that should answer your question. Does it work as a piece of music. It works as a piece of Prophecy."

I think that's sort of the picture I was trying to compose, so I'm glad it was interpreted this way.

Very Intricate. Like Dynamics Not Static. A Must Hear. This song should be commercial. I can think of a thousand applications for this particular movement. Like The Truth behind Christianity type... Read full review

smooth and atmospheric tune. Very nice composition and great skill (it's not easy to arrange an orchestral piece!).

Clones: The samples can be sometimes limiting, which is why I'm always looking for more. Really, though, these sets have been nothing but stunning, and I'm so grateful for the day that I was pointed towards EWQL. I still use synths a lot, though, so I can fill in the blanks of the sound canvas. (:

Play has been nothing but all around the place for me. I finally got it stable when I setup a dual boot on my system and started using Windows XP x64 (although I'm running 32bit software on it because my other VSTs are 32bit and I don't have 4 GB of ram, so not much difference). Anyway, I wouldn't say I mastered it, I should have probably mixed some close-mic in with the far-mic, but it was a first try and I was getting particularly anxious. :D

Excellent theme, and fantastic orchestration! You're way beyond me in your skills with EWQL Symphonic Orchestra, and you seem to have mastered the choir wordbuilder too. I can't get it to work in a stable way with Pro Tools, so I'm waiting for the Play version to make it usable for me.

I had to. I had to. You have to read in my review on the part in the Question - Does It Work As A Piece Of Music? - There is no way that this song gets my review without it. ***** 5*'s

Breathtaking indeed! The EWQLSOs sound amazing, especially the choirs =0 Maybe I should get one for myself some day. The rock-parts with electric guitar and synth lead gave the piece a nice addition which reminded me of The Black Mages and their One Winged Angel arrangement. All in all, I simply love rock and symphonic orchestra mixed together.

Breathtaking music. The choir is absolutely fantastic. The elements of victory are audible in those horns and wind instruments. This is platinum music.

this song might be one of the best things youve ever written, aside from my bias favorites of course. the melody makes me melt all over the place and your instrument choices are superb. i think i speak for everyone when i say if you ever stop composing, ill hunt you down with a bonesaw.

Orchestral and yet, innovative. Big ensemble music and yet, there are solos. Traditional instruments and electronic lines very well mixed all together. A very good challenger for the V compo!

If Muscaglini, John Williams and Rick Wakeman made babies, their child would be something close to this.

This is like way impressive! You used your tools very well and created some neat music. BTW - I was here before your invite arrived :) I am not how many of your pieces I have heard (and I will listen to more now) - do you find the sample sets limiting in the styles you can accomplish?
