Year: 2008

Artist's description:
Same as before except I dropped the fade-out at the end, added a modulation, and collaborated with clones, who provided a sweet guitar solo.

I'm still not a nihilist.

Contributors:
Big thank you to clones for offering to create the guitar tracks that make this tune much more alive the second time around :D

I have been listening this track for almost 2 days now, trying to find a flaw. And truth is, I couldn't spot any. Din takes one theme and develops it though out the piece, each transition adding ... Read full review

This track captures the essence of nihilism very well. The crunchy bass synth seems ready to drag us down to unknown depths, while the somewhat tribal drums make the ride enjoyable. The guitar provide... Read full review

Thanks :) If I were struck by lightning while swimming in the Arctic Ocean, I think the heat of the lightning would be the only thing keeping my nuts from strangling me to death :( Yes, clones rocks on lead >:)

I love how your music is so relaxing yet drives a huge rush of energy through my veins at the same time. It's like I've been struck by lightning while swimming in the Arctic Ocean. It seems impossible - but you pull it off. And hats off to clones for the guitar work in this piece, it fits perfectly with the madness that is Din!

I love playing rhythm parts. Must be from all those years of baritone saxophone and rhythm guitar. Thank you, Master Space :D

Nice and detailed :D Yeah, the mood is fairly constant throughout, but 'nihilism' itself isn't a dynamic concept and despite my best efforts, the single modulation/transposition is the only thing I could come up with that didn't sound wrong. I'm actually going to try another version of this, hopefully keeping the dark feel and going even darker. I may be able to explore greater music complexity there. Thank you for listening :D

very soundtrack oriented. this has a very progressive-industrial mood to it. good jorb with collaborating. more collabo's need to happen in this place.

I can't help myself, but I must say this, Red Alert. In a good way. Guitar fits perfectly in, you two should work more often together ! =)

Sounds a bit like Tool, sounds a bit like all I ever want to sound like when I make heavier stuff, sounds AWESOME! Great!

Din, what can I say you are a master of drum echoes...I swear you could do Goa in a heartbeat with those skills. Those flat metallic cymbals you use (homemade?) also add a good sense of metal-like "crunch" to the song and the drums in general, despite being slow, have enough "crunching" momentum that I could easily run 10K races to this song. Also, the kind of lonely dark piano feel around 1:53 is refreshingly creepy...the solo around 2:22, though not technically complex, has some great use of bends and vibrato that give it a very smooth, expressive, and human feel (nice job Clones!) The victorious chord feel at 3:04 is also very deep and interesting...almost seems to say "you are not in darkness or light...but BOTH". From 3:04-4:14 this almost has an electronic symphony feel...astoundingly good sound engineering here. My real gripe is this song can ultimately be reduced to about 3 chords...and the mood therefore has a certain element of "duh" about it. The dramatic change of the timbre of instruments at 3:04 alleviates some of this predictability...but ultimately there's only so much even a semi-pro sound engineer can do to make up for the lack of second and third melodies (I still would highly recommend a song have at least 2 preferrably 3 unique melodies / melodic parts and 3 distinct chord progressions). ---------------------------------------------------- We all know Din can make his synths crunch and squeal up to stuff with the best producers on TIS...but I'm still hoping more effort gets applied to the tonal and mood depth of Din's future releases.

I like what *you* did with the guitar ;) All I had to do was set it in place and make sure it wasn't covered up.

How did you become so good at low-freq stuff and especially Basslines? The drum work in this one really sounds epic and even feels majestic when accompanied by those mystic-spiced chords. While not ambient in it's nature, it is one of the leading industrials. You have a great way with expanding every instrument and giving each a kingdom of sounds.

I like what you did with the guitar - you got the most out it. I like the changes you made to the song - the expanded break and strings are very nice.

This song kicks the lama's ass across the universe. I love the Guitar and the Epic movements of the track.

ok... for my part - fender mustang guitar driven by ebow through a mxr distortion direct into the line in of the laptop into Sonar 2.2 - pretty simple.

Well, a little breakdown is always welcome. Especially for those who might consider some collab work. And, remembering your last doc about "Don't Look Down", this one'd be quite interesting anyway so.. yes, if you feel like it, I say go for it.

Nope, streaming is pretty good. And the track rocks! I don't know about the previous version, but all I can say is this one is heavy and solid! "Nihilism", uh.. This has written "lethal weapon. Handle with care" all over. Oh yes, perfect title! Great work, great tune!
