Year: 2008

Artist's description:
This is the spiritual successor to a song I originally made on MTV's Music Generator for Playstation. It's nearly a phrase-for-phrase reconstruction with a darker feel to it, courtesy of detuning the mix a single semi-tone in GoldWave ;)

I've included the original MTV MG tune as well, from the album "MTV Music Generator - The Casualties", meaning I had to record it from tape because I no longer have an original source :( It warbles left and right but otherwise sounds okay I guess.

Blah blah blah...

Nah, you don't need to reveal it. ;)

Thanks :) But I can't take too much credit. There's some studio magic to fix my sloppy timing in a few places :/

Yay! You're back :D Some pieces are missing, but I get the gist. Glad you like it :)

Now that you mention it, I wouldn't agree more. The soundtrack had a few songs just like this although I don't quite remember them anymore. Great job with the guitars Din!

This is what I expect of Din... !^! badassness. Crunchy guitar driving the flow with a chillacious beat and mix in some synth, throw in some ice and you've got a Din on the rocks.!

I dont usually like distorted guitars in music, but this is so good. Excellent groove in the beatz and guitars.

Thanks :) Unfortunately I don't remember the soundtrack for C&C: Red Alert, since the only time I ever played it was somewhen back in 1999 on PS1; I sucked so bad I never bothered picking it up again. I prefer turn-based strategy. Look at me ramble... :D

This actually reminds me of the music in C&C: Red Alert. The big guitar lines, that synthy thing in the background, the dark quality... Good stuff, Din.

I'm very sorry :( But that was Soundgarden's last album, released in 1996. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago...I'm getting old too fast.

I guess I'm lost on this one.... most recent commercial music is forced upon me by my wife and children ;-)

No. Next album. Radio hits were Pretty Noose, Blow Up the Outside World, and Burden in My Hand. But the last handful of songs on the album are my favorites ;) Tighter & Tighter, Overfloater, and Boot Camp.

I don't know Prodigy... so...

by Cortoh Hasur replying to Din

It's a common reply: you both focused on Curt but I did mention Prodigy too. Curt for the timbre, and Prodigy for the rythm, the pace. But, there's nothing harder to describe than an idea of a vocal..

Yeah, but Cobain appeared to be ready to quit the whole music gig anyway :( But no, I don't have a great singing voice. FX-wise, I'm leaning toward some of the chorus/leslie/delay/filter effects like on Soundgarden's Down on the Up Side, like half-dozen songs on the album.

don't know Din's vision though - of course he may sound great as is - I'm still bummed Kurt shot himself - I was looking forward to new good music.

Ahahaha, mind reading.. but I'd think of something between Curt Corbain and The Prodigy..

If you ever go vocal, do you have something in mind?

May 30 2008 2:02 pm
by clones replying to Din

you play some excellent guitar. A suggestion on the vocals would be consider singing and modifying it to death - perhaps come up with something new.

You do have that effect ;) Now I can't stop focusing on it :( Okay, that's one more thing to change. I'd also like to add a vocal track, but I don't know if I can sing a style that would fit :S

May 30 2008 12:51 pm
by Cortoh Hasur replying to clones

I have that effect, somtime ;)

Now that you point it out I can't stop hearing it.

If they ever make a Matrix 4, send them your track as demo ;) --- This is punchy, heavy and really din-amic! The only thing would be that little phrase in the back, with some flute-ish synth, a small motive you keep playing (almost) through the whole track. It tends to "monotonize" the tune, despite your guitar play variations and all.

quite excellent Din - this rocks!
