Artist's description:
When will I actually have a final version of this song? Who the hell knows... it's a bad habit.

This version has different kick and snare drums. It's been balanced a bit more and there are more drum fill-ins (which some of the fill-ins I'm looking to change and also possibly changing out the toms used as well). I actually finished this version back in late December but I had plans on polishing it off yet before releasing. Here it is June and I still don't have any new work done to this song.

I have no idea when I will actually take the time out to finalize this tune. My brother was going to do some guitar work for me and has done it with version 4 and sent me the mp3, but he didn't send me each guitar track yet. That version is imbalanced since his guitars are too loud and drown out other parts of the tune. I don't know if I will release that version. I need to bug him for the tracks and then I can implement it in the final version of this song, like I said who knows when that will be...

I figured I would upload this anyways, since it is better than version 4. Enjoy.

Yes, Vista r poo for Audigy :( But Creative has finally released a (currently beta) driver update for Audigy family cards, with added Vista support. I'm waiting for the stable version so I can hopefully resolve a weird playback buffer problem I have with Live.

Crap I see what you mean, I did drown out that synth. I'll have to fix it... doh!!

Haha. I have to do the same. He's 800 miles away. I just got back from visiting my family out there a couple weeks ago. I should have kicked his ass then...! It's all good. I'll get this shit polished some day. Not to mention that I run Vista now and I removed my second sound card (Audigy 2) that played my SoundFonts correctly. My X-Fi card does not like my SoundFonts, so none of my old samples will work anymore, which The Voyage is half SoundFonts and half Softsynth... and the rest of my Sacred Dreams album is all SoundFonts :(

I'd have to mail one of my shoes to my brother to kick his ass, so I have to settle for a verbal smack down :/ I look forward to the final mix, once you can stir your brother to action.

I should do my own comparison, lol. I didn't change any of the instruments but I did do some EQ tweaking. I might have upped the guitar too much and drowned out the strings not even realizing it. I will check it out and see if that's the case. As for my bro, yeah I should smack him around a bit. His guitar work is absolutely amazing. He's been playing for over 20 years. The version with his guitar work in it is just phenomenal but lacks balance. I should kick his ass for shoddy production quality. He knows better :)

I'll hold off on too much comment for the moment; I've got to give this one and its predecessor more comparison before I go into much depth. But I can at least say there are parts of this that I like more, and parts of version 4 that I like more (like the cello/double bass that ducks in and out opposite the guitar during the 'verse'; I love that back and forth shift in tone and mood). As to your brother, smacking my own brother in the back of the head works wonders ;)
