Hmm...there is no delay on the timing of the snare...I'm starting to think the snare itself has delay (it was taken off a breakbeat-style sample CD). Anyhow, I know what you mean and I'm working on it...thank you for the tips. :-)

Although the drum beat is very abstract, some rules are made to be broken (for which, I give kudos). Surely, there is a way to fit melodic elements into something like this. And, I like the selection of snares you used. As far as sound goes, I understand your purpose here is to not let the kick overwhelm the loop. Gosh.. Not easy to comment, or more, pin point to one thing in this beat, I'd say, but I'll give it a try. So, you have a backlayer, the "liquid" sound-like, I think it's slightly late. Not by much, but it's "hooking" the overall beat a tad late, just like when mixing 2 LP's, thee upcming one is a short late and "breaks" the smoothness of the mix.
