Artist's description:
A remix of the title theme from the famous Odyssey demo on the Amiga. The original track was made by Greg of Alcatraz.

The remix was made entirely with EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Plus Play Edition in Renoise, and was a real bitch to export. From the point where I started exporting the finished track until I had the final MP3 on my HD took me 6 hours. I'd say the entire track took me about 30 hours of work spread over a period of a few months.

This is also probably the biggest orchestral arrangement I've made so far. It's so big that I couldn't load the entire song in 24-bit mode in the end, and instead had to split it up into 4 parts so that my computer could handle it.

I really love the Odyssey music (at least the first 4 tracks), and I'm planning to remix more of them. This will be the only orchestral score though, as the rest are more synth-based.

Important note: I strongly recommend that you download the MP3 instead of streaming the track through the TiS player. Orchestral music is not suited at all to lower bitrates, and it just ends up sounding metallic and hollow, with little detail left.

A nice, solid, old fashioned epic sound for a game, this. TiLT states "A remix of the title theme from the famous Odyssey demo on the Amiga.". I'll be the first to admit that I'm far from being an a... Read full review

Really gets into it's own at 01:18. Also, 02:05 has a lovely pizz / staccato string sound that puts me in mind of Hanz Zimmer and James Newton Howard's soundtrack for the new Batman films. If anything I wish you'd experimented more with the build in those 2 sections, but I guess that would have defied the remix aspect.

Odyssey was one of my favourite amiga demos. A little too long with nearly one hour playing time ;) I love your remix!!!

Oh, OK. :) I'd love to hear something where you just go your own way orchestrally with this new library. If you're anything like me, the new sounds will spark new ideas. Can't wait. :)

Yeah, I know what you mean, but there's only so much I can do within the boundaries of the original track. I usually try to stay faithful to music I remix, and someone else has already made a more free-form orchestral remix of this track anyway.

There are some great sounds here. To be honest, I would've liked a few more playing techniques - the strings seemed to be all sustained, legato, or marcato. :( But the sounds are there. The track itself is, I think, more suited to synthy stuff, but in terms of pure sound quality, nice work. You're getting a handle on the library quite quickly, it would seem. :) Some more complex orchestration (for example, less "string-filling", more movement of the melody between players, and a bit more dynamic variance) would be great, though.
